Potomac River Spill Functional Exercise
Loudoun Water, Ashburn
Event Description: This one-day functional exercise (FE) will provide an opportunity for participants to test emergency response capabilities, specifically but not limited to: communications, resource management, documentation, and mutual aid and assistance utilizing a hypothetical incident scenario that affects public water systems.
Who Should Attend: Public water systems with intakes on the Potomac River, local health departments, local emergency management, water sector response partner associations, as well as other local, state and federal agencies that would be involved in the response and recovery to an incident affecting public water systems.
Utilize multiagency coordination systems to manage a water sector incident that could affect Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia.
Identify actions to maintain public health and safety before, during and after a regional water outage.
Validate the Draft Potomac Drinking Water Source Protection Partnership (DWSPP) Utility Spill Response Plan.
Develop resource management strategies for a regional water outage.

Functional Exercise: 10:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Participants can participate at the training location or remotely from their normal place of work. The planners will contact participants to discuss the FE in further detail after they register.
