Esther At Cheltenham Playhouse Theatre

Cheltenham Playhouse Theatre, 47 - 53 Bath Road, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, GL53 7HG

Jacob's Well are back! After their triumphant production of Godspell last year, the critically acclaimed company explodes back into the Playhouse with an epic tale of love, treason, jealousy and power. In the court of a tyrannical despot, an orphaned girl finds herself elevated to become the most influential woman in the land. Friendships form and fortunes change. Finally, it seems, she has found all that she desired. But in her new world of luxury, all is not as it seems. Prejudices run deep. Dark forces are lurking in the shadows, biding their time, waiting to destroy all she holds dear. As the faith of her ancestors awakes within her, she realises that she may be her people's last hope... With more than the fate of a nation hanging in the balance, will Esther find the courage to rise up, for such a time as this? Join them for the UK premier of Esther the Musical! Adapted from the remarkable Bible story, and brought vividly to life for the stage, Jacob's Well brings this ancient tale to the Playhouse in a foot-tapping, thought-provoking and often hilarious love story with a difference. Esther is in support of 2 local charities: - TIC , a Gloucestershire based charity whose mission is to improve, preserve and promote good mental health and wellbeing among children, young people and their families. - Listening Post provides a counselling service to adults living in Gloucestershire who are suffering emotional and psychological distress. As ever, come prepared to be delighted by Cheltenham's most surprising theatre company.
